Greenstock Pretreatment Facility: how it works
The high-tech pretreatment plant is equipped with two distinct lines, which operate on proven and certified technology provided by BDI-Bioenergy International, the world’s leading technologist.
Line 1 is a versatile setup capable of processing one hundred thousand metric tons of the most challenging degraded feedstocks, including animal fats categories 1 and 2, POME, and acid oils. The process starts with robust coarse filtration, followed by multiple stages of plastics and water-soluble compound removal, ensuring extreme precision in phase separation control to minimize material loss. Subsequently, an advanced adsorption, filtration, and multi-polishing system, employing tailor-made adsorbents, ensures the retention of even the most stubborn contaminants. Furthermore, Line 1 can reduce the free fatty acid content to levels aligned with the customer’s needs, delivering unparalleled quality and sustainable treatment of feedstocks.
Line 2 features a high-capacity, three hundred thousand metric tons line. This continuous setup is tailored to treat low- to standard-grade yet more abundant feedstocks such as used cooking oil and animal fats category 3. The process begins with robust coarse filtration, followed by multiple stages of water-soluble compound removal, ensuring precise phase separation control to minimize material loss. Subsequently, an advanced adsorption, filtration, and multi-polishing system with high capacity is employed, utilizing the latest advancements in adsorbents to maximize decontamination while minimizing oil retention—a unique solution delivering the latest in energy integration and savings. This ensures not only the delivery of very pure feedstocks but also an optimal carbon footprint.
On both lines, the relevant feedstock parameters like solids, moisture, metals, chlorides, phosphorus, free fatty acids, and others are improved in such a way that they unlock the full potential of the feedstocks, creating a purified and certified end product optimized for immediate processing into renewable fuels.
